About Fringe Central

Fringe Central at The Perth Cultural Centre is the spiritual birthplace of FRINGE WORLD.

From theatre and comedy at performance venues like The State Theatre Centre and The Blue Room Theatre, to circus and other thrills at pop-up spaces like the Urban Orchard, Fringe Central has a myriad of entertainment options to choose from.

Important Information

The Urban Orchard is a licensed area and security may ask to see valid photo ID to gain entry. If you cannot produce valid photo ID then you may be refused entry, without refund for any tickets purchased. Under 18's are welcome to licensed areas but must be accompanied and supervised by a parent, legal guardian or a responsible adult and the decision to allow entry is entirely at the discretion of the licensee. Visit the FAQ page for the valid forms of Photo ID accepted in Western Australia. Note that some events are restricted to over 18s only.

  • Monday: 5 pm - 12 am
  • Tuesday: 5 pm - 12 am
  • Wednesday: 5 pm - 12 am
  • Thursday: 5 pm - 12 am
  • Friday: 5 pm - 1 am
  • Saturday: 5 pm - 1 am 
  • Sunday: 5 pm - 12 am

The Urban Orchard closes nightly to the general public at 10pm. After this time, the space transforms into The Budgie Smuggler: FRINGE WORLD Staff/Artist Hub, which is a space for our artists and staff to network and relax.
 

Public Transport

Closest Bus Stop: Perth Bus Station Approximately a 5-minute walk. Exit onto Roe Street and walk up William Street. Turn Right onto James Street and you’ll be walking straight into Fringe Central.

Closest Train Station: Perth Station Take the East Exit out of Perth Station towards the Art Gallery of WA. Turn Left and Cross the Bridge over Roe Street and you’ll be at the Urban Orchard.

Accessibility

Fringe Central is an accessible Hub. 

There is dedicated wheelchair symbol marked parking in The State Library Carpark (Francis St), Cultural Centre Carpark (Roe St), Citiplace Carpark (Roe St) and on Beaufort St.

Unisex accessible toilets are located throughout the cultural centre including at PICA, The Blue Room, The State Theatre Centre, The State Library of Western Australia, The Art Gallery of Western Australia and at the entrance of the Urban Orchard.
